This exclusive episode of award-winning "Peace in Focus" that airs on Nile TV International, Egyptian Television, discusses the issue of the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam Project from the points of view of Ethiopia and Egypt. It highlights the efforts exerted to resolve the problem peacefully and creatively. We spoke to Speaker of the House of People's Representatives of Ethiopia Aba-dula Gemeda who became chief of intelligence in 1996 and minister of national defence in 2000. We also interviewed President of the Arab Water Council Dr. Mahmoud Abu-Zeid who is also Honorary President of the World Water Council and was Egypt's minister of water resources and irrigation between 1997-2009. In his capacity as minister, Abu-Zeid played an important role in launching the Nile Basin Initiative (NBI) in 1999 and took part in the negotiations on the Nile Basin Cooperative Framework Agreement (CFA) that was opened for signature in 2010. "Peace in Focus" also interviewed Dr. Boutros Boutros-Ghali who became UN secretary-general between 1992-1996 and was Egypt's minister of state for foreign affairs between 1977-1991 and then deputy prime minister for foreign affairs for several months before assuming the UN post. He became secretary-general of La Francophonie between 1997-2002. Dr. Boutros-Ghali founded the National Council for Human Rights in Egypt in 2003 and became its first president.
