The "speed school" project in Ethopia educates older children that have never been to school before. Within 10 months, the pupils catch up on what they have missed out on.
Through an "Accelerated Learning System" - a fun- and activity-based system that uses games, music and flashcards, they pick up the basics quickly. After passing an exam, most of them can then go on to the final year of primary school or even further. To ensure the pupils' attendance beyond primary school, the project also supports families.
Since its establishment in 2011, the Speed School project has integrated about 70,000 out-of-school children in to the regular education system in three regional states of Ethiopia.
