Coronation of Ethiopian Emperor Haile Selassie in 1930


A ten minute film about the coronation of Ethiopian Emperor Haile Selassie in 1930, produced by curator Paul Faber of the Tropenmuseum in Amsterdam, and used in a recent exhibition about a trip to Ethiopia by two Dutch adventurers, Baron Binnert van Harinxma thoe Slooten and biologist Gerrit Brouwer, who happened to be passing through Addis Ababa at the time of the celebration. The footage was drawn from the seventy minutes of original 35mm film shot by Burton Holmes and his cameraman Andre de la Varre and now owned by Archive Farms Inc.
